Everyone’s got only 24 hours. Not more than that. People don’t have more time to do things they want to do. Time is what everyone is looking for. It is even said that time is money. This is true to the fact when you utilize your time properly. In your busier schedule if you have decided to start a blog and make it a career then you will need to give it some time to cultivate it. It’s not easy, definitely not. But if you really don’t have time for blogging, then you should get serious and take right action plan.
Time Is Money
As I said earlier, time is money, it is a hard fact which you will realize when you get the results. And you will get results only when you put in more time.
Are you facing difficulty in taking out time from your busier schedule for your blog?
Writing blog posts need time. Reading other blogs too. And then there are more things involved in blogging, such as doing search engine and social media optimization, writing guest posts, commenting on other blogs, responding to other blogger comments, tweaking and updating the blog elements etc.
Everything requires time. Blogging requires time.
You have commitments and other responsibilities on your shoulder, I understand. I am going through with this.
I have been blogging for few months only, and I have been hectic busy in these months. I know that.
I only post once a week, because of my time limitations.
I have got a 12 hrs. job to do (including traveling time), taking care of home stuff since my wife’s pregnant and due in 2 weeks, teaching my 6 years old daughter and helping her in school work.
I get very little time, but I know I have to do blogging as well. By hook or by crook. It is slow, but this will make a huge impact in coming months.
I have downloaded few podcasts by Darren Rowse, which I listen to when I am commuting to my office. That 2-hour period of traveling gives me learning time.
Tell me this.
If you don’t have time for blogging now, how will you get time in future?
Look at your family, financial condition, and feel how people are talking about your failures. Look at yourself from the society point of view where you stand.
Need to get out of this? Yes?
Make out time now. If you have finally decided to start a blog and really want to make this your career, then make out time for it. It’s your baby, need your time and support.
If you think that you have a very little time to do blogging, then there are few things which you can do. There are few tools, plugins and some activities which you have to do to make it running.
Slow and steady is fine. But keep it running.
Don’t pressurize yourself to do more and more blogging, ignoring other aspects of life. Life is meant to be enjoyed and so is blogging.
Even if you dedicate just 2-3 hours a week, that should be fine. Try making it an hour every day, which would be sufficient initially.
Dareen Rowse, from Problogger, tweeted a question back in 2013, asking his followers on the biggest challenge they face as a blogger. He shares on his post, that he got 50 replies with time as the biggest challenge.
So now wonder, time is in demand with bloggers.
Do You Have Any Plan?
Most bloggers jump in and start a blog post. Are you one of them?
Don’t you have any blogging plan?
And most of the bloggers make a plan, collect ideas first and then they write content. I am one of these bloggers.
Earlier I used to click on ‘Add New’ button in WordPress and start writing anything, and then researching on more things. Now this might be good for few of the bloggers.
Let the flow continue when writing an article. You can always do research before or after writing. But before writing content, research gives you a better view of what you are going to write. With research, you can list down the major points you are going to talk about.
This way, writing will be easy.
You don’t have to be a professional writer to write an article. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t learn how to write articles effectively.
You can check for spelling mistakes and formatting later on once you have written down your blog post. For grammatical mistakes, you can install Grammarly, a tool which can help you fix those easily. It is better than Microsoft Word even.
You don’t have to make a plan to write a post which has 2000 words. Anything between 500 to 1000 word post would do the job for you.
My plan is to write a 3000 words article once a week. And ever since I have made this plan, I am able to achieve this. And consistently.
So, you have to set your own plan, your own schedule plan. If you have scheduled something, it will be done.
With writing content, there are other things as well.
Let’s say if you have only 1 hour, to spare for your blogging. Then give writing about 30 minutes and rest of the stuff another 30 minutes.
On Monday, maybe you can comment on other blogs. On Tuesday, you can write a guest post for the balance 30 minutes. All these things have to be scheduled, every day.
This all can be accomplished only if you are disciplined enough. You have to follow your plan in a discipline way.
Start following your plan.
Ghost Blogger Or Guest Blogger?
When you don’t have enough time to write any content, then your money will play the role.
Both the options will give you content. If you have money, then you can hire a ghost blogger. Otherwise, ask other bloggers to write for your blog. This is called guest blogging.
Ghost bloggers usually write content for your blog, and you get the credit. This one costs. There are many sources from where you can hire these writers.
If they can give you a worthy content for your readers, then this is definitely worth investing.
Now, everyone doesn’t have that kind of money where they can afford ghost bloggers. Other option?
Guest blogging is the other option.
You ask other bloggers to write content to publish on your blog and they get the credit.
You get two benefits. One, you build a relation with other bloggers, and two, you get free content.
If you just started your blog and you simply don’t have time, then ghost blogger is what you need. Because initially guest bloggers will not be interested in your blog.
Either hire a ghost blogger if you have money to spend, else write down content yourself for few months until you get some readership and then you can get guest bloggers coming in.
Blogging Tools And Resources
There are variety of tools and resources available to assist you in blogging process. When you have a limited time, you can use one of these tools to ease the process for you.
Note Taking App
This is the first tool which all the professional bloggers use, and I use it too. It is extremely handy tool in saving your time later when writing down your content.
When browsing the internet, and reading other blogs or articles, you can save the ideas in Evernote. Anytime you see any infographic or may be any relevant content or a new question put up in a forum, you can grab those easily with Evernote web clipper.
RSS Reader App
I have 100s of other blog links under my bookmarks. If I open them one by one to see what they have posted recently that will take a hell lot of time.
Although you will find many reader apps, but my favorite is Feedly.
Feedly will make this easier for you. Try it.
I use this web tool to keep an eye on all other blogs in the same niche I am in. You should definitely use this to get the idea of what other blogs are posting.
This will save time in looking at different other blogs at once.
Social Media Automation Tools
When you grow with your blog with lot of content, you will be growing your social media base as well. It becomes harder to manage social media interactions.
There are lot of social media automation and scheduler tools available online, like Hootsuite, Buffer, CoSchedule and many more that makes it easy to schedule tweets, Facebook posts, Instagram pictures, and other interactions.
The free version of these tools is limited in some way, but you can purchase the premium ones to get more features. As a newbie, free ones would be the best fit for you.
I use Hootsuite. I like it.
An Editorial Calendar
When writing content, you have to schedule ahead. Probably one month ahead.
If you are stuck with writing content, I will suggest you to write down 10 articles in row and schedule them with an editorial calendar so you never run out of blog posts for your blog.
Bloggers use this tool for content creation and delivery plan. It gives them a broader look of blog posts going to be published on which date and time.
Plan content in advance. This is important. This will give you an advance overview.
I use WordPress editorial calendar to achieve this and it really saves my time now.
Building a great blog takes time. It won’t happen in 1 month or you might not see any results in the next 5-6 months even.
You’ve got to understand this before you start a blog. If you have started, you need to be consistent and that will come when you are disciplined enough with your time.
There’s no such time-spending manual. If others can do it, I can do it. And if I can do it, you can do it too.
Still don’t have time for blogging?
